Six years ago my friend Jed Selby and I put together a video called Buck Fever. Those of you who viewed it and enjoyed it will quite possibly apprecaite and love Enter the Donkey. Those of you who dispised Buck Fever will without a doubt share the same disgust with Enter the Donkey and may very well live a happier life without ever viewing it. But, you might have developed a sense of humor in the past six years so maybe I shouldn't judge. Anyway, Enter the Donkey was a really fun project that started as an afterthought really, then morphed into a slightly larger beast the further we probed into it. Born from the timeless hours we spent filming for the past two years, we wanted to at least do something with all this footage that had only been used for internet blogs and our own viewing pleasure. At first we were just gonna take all the internet segments that we had put up on necky and riot's blogs over the past year and put those on a dvd. Then we decided to re-edit for a nicer touch. But like I said, the video is an afterthought. There were no filming plans, no logistics, no sponsors paying us to fly to indo or costa, or down under to film our bros. If you're looking for a storyline or a plot of sorts, look no further. Or actually, look elsewhere. Well, there is a slight, underlying message, which is basically, "sometimes grown men act like imbeciles and sometimes those same grown men are kayakers. And, sometimes those same guys go to other countries and impose their absurd behavior upon other cultures. And they are sorry afterwards for all their obnoxious behavior."

"I'm super excited to be involved in the making of Enter the Donkey. It means a lot to me for two primary reasons. First of all, I'm new to the world of videography, and working with Spencer and Joey, two very experienced and knowledgeable people, on this project has been an incredible learning experience. We have all been able to contribute sections that personify what it is that makes us excited to get on our gear and hit the water every day, and I hope that this will relate the video to a wide varitey of different people in the paddling community. Secondly, I'm very excited to shed some light on a few of the young, lesser known paddlers that are coming up in the sport. Guys like Ben Marr, Max Kniewasser, Cooper Lambla, Dave Neiuwenhuis, and Kelsey Thompson, (there are many more as well, but these are a few) who can destroy it on the river just as well as anyone out there, but who do it for love of the sport and not for any sort of fame or material benefit. I think the new faces will be refreshing to our viewers, and give these athletes the recognition that they deserve. Anyways, everything else aside, it's been a great project, and we're excited to bring this video to everyone. Hope you enjoy."

Enter the Donkey started as the culmination of 2 years worth of footage that we shot for various internet projects.
Over time it evolved, as we added new segments and footage. We never really set out to make this movie, it sort of just happened.
But, having said that, I couldn't be more happy with it. We didn't have the pressure of working with sponsors, so we weren't forced to compromise.
Theres a little of everything in Enter the Donkey, and overall, I feel like its a good representation of the way the three of us (Spencer, Chris, and myself) view kayaking as a sport and lifestyle.
For myself, I wanted to make a movie that threw pretention out the window....sacraficed some sacred kayaking cows.......and set the whole idea of "pro kayaking" ablaze.......and for the most part, I think that Enter the Donkey accomplishes that. I get irritated when people take kayaking too seriously.....for me.....above all else....its about having fun and being with my friends.....and I am lucky to of been able to make this movie with two of my best paddling buddies.
